Kim Taedong utilizes the language of photography to capture the often–overlooked areas of the city and encounters with anonymous individuals who inhabit those spaces. He also focuses on areas impacted by the Korean War and the division of Korea, researching and photographing such areas.

In 《PLANETES》, he captures the traces of war and everyday life, revealing an unfamiliar yet beautiful light in the distant world beyond through his series ‘Rifling’ and ‘Planetes’. These scenes reflect the artist’s long contemplation and experience of how to view places with a historical significance at the present moment.

The works offer a glimpse into the simple fact that even the harshest wars are ultimately the lives of the people who lived through them and that our current lives continue on their scars.
