The exhibition 《Counter Time》 draws attention to the temporal dimensions that come into play when collection pieces are displayed. Typically, the time associated with exhibitions is programmed in a strictly linear and irreversible fashion, akin to the laws of entropy, to ensure the self-preservation of the art ecosystem.

Just as time is structured to manage labor and capital, the time embedded in a collected artist's life and oeuvre is administratively managed by the bureaucratic institutions of museums and efficiently regulated by the art market. An artist’s life record (biography) is replaced by exhibition credentials, and the history of a work is reduced to its record of exhibitions and collection ownership.

In typical exhibition narratives, the contextual flow and trajectory of the artist's practice are overlooked, with emphasis placed solely on the current value of the work. 《Counter Time》 aims to symbolically return museum collections to the artists, restoring their visual sovereignty and presenting an artist-centered exhibition.

To realize such a vision, artist-led interpretation involves rewinding or unraveling the threads of linear time enclosed within the closed circuit of the collection system—thereby transforming time into a playful element.
