To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its opening, the DongGang Museum of Photography presents the special exhibition 《There Before : 20 Years of Vision at DongGang Museum of Photography》, held across Exhibition Halls 1 and 2.

This exhibition is curated with the intention of reflecting on the past and present of Korean photography—and looking ahead to its future—through works from the museum’s collection by artists who have influenced the development of Korean photography. Spanning from the 1960s to the 2000s and encompassing multiple generations, the selection highlights key figures whose practices mark important transitions in the history of the medium.

Exhibition Hall 1 focuses on generational shifts and the future of Korean photography, presenting works by recipients of the DongGang Photography Award whose progressive visions have introduced diverse social themes and discourses, while also exploring experimental and forward-looking photographic methods.

Exhibition Hall 2 features works by artists who represent Korean documentary photography of the 1960s–1980s, as well as works by those who contributed to the revitalization of Korean photography from the 1980s into the 2000s, thereby offering a multifaceted view of Korean photography’s past and present.
