Established in 2012 in partnership with the SBS Foundation, the Artist of the Year Award supports and fosters artists who represent the vision, possibilities, and alternative directions of Korean contemporary art. Previously held at MMCA Gwacheon, the exhibition has now moved to MMCA Seoul to enhance accessibility for the general public. With a renewed focus on presenting new projects by the finalists, 《Korea Artist Prize 2015》 aims to highlight the dynamism of Korean contemporary art while increasing public awareness and engagement with the award.

The four finalists were recommended by a group of nominators appointed by the Artist of the Year steering committee and were selected through artist interviews and presentation reviews conducted by both Korean and international jurors between February and March 2015. Over the next four months, each finalist will devote themselves to developing a new project for the exhibition.

The final winner will be announced during the exhibition period in October as the 2015 Artist of the Year, and SBS will produce and broadcast a documentary exploring the artist’s practice.
